A two-part summer celebration of seasonal sweetness, slow gathering, and hands-on creativity.
Part I: Berry Picking
Friday, July 11 | 3:00–5:00 PM
Join us for a nourishing seasonal ritual: handpicking fresh summer berries at a local farm. This gentle, joy-filled outing invites you to connect with the land, slow your pace, and gather ripe blueberries to use in our baking class the following day or enjoy at home.
Possible Locations (dependent on berry availability):
Berry Hill Farm – berryhillfarm.net
Blooms & Berries – bloomsandberries.com
McGlasson Farms – mcglassonfarms.com
Free to attend – just pay for what you pick!
Let us know if you’re coming to pick berries so we can share final location details closer to the date.
Part II: Blueberry Lemon Muffin Baking Class
Saturday, July 12 | 10:30 AM – 12:30 PM | Sweetgum Manor
Led by Joanna Kemper of Basil + Bread, this cozy, small-group class is a joyful way to transform your handpicked berries into bright, fragrant berry lemon muffins from scratch.
You’ll receive step-by-step guidance as we mix, scoop, and bake together—plus tips to recreate these beauties at home. Customize your muffins with toppings like Demerara sugar and a vanilla lemon glaze, and leave with freshly baked treats, a printed recipe, and a heart full of summer joy.
All materials and ingredients provided except berries. Please bring 1.5 cups of your own blueberries and an apron. (If you don’t pick with us, no worries—just bring berries and join the fun!)
Bonus: Basil + Bread will have fresh sourdough loaves available for purchase after class.
